Premier League Predictions: Matchweek 15

jonjoward1998

SATURDAY:

EVERTON V LIVERPOOL

Everton needed that win over Wolves in midweek and the score line will have surprised a lot of people, especially as scoring goals has been a problem for them this season.

The Toffees ended their rivals' chance of winning the Premier League when they won this fixture last season, and in this one they could put a big dent in their hopes.

Liverpool were off it in the first half against Newcastle, but they did improve and show character in the second half. I was very surprised how off it they were on Wednesday after looking very dominant against Man City last weekend.

Newcastle rattled them defensively and I can see Everton do something similar in this one with their long balls.

They won't play at the same intensity as Newcastle did, but I think they'll make it a tough afternoon for the reds by being tough to break down, and causing problems with their long balls.

PREDICTION: 1-1

ASTON VILLA V SOUTHAMPTON

Aston Villa returned to winning ways with their win over Brentford on Wednesday, where they looked a team reenergised.

They have some winnable games coming up which will give them a chance of getting their season back on track, but they also have a Champions League fixture against RB Leipzig coming up in a few days, which could derail their progress.

It was Deja vu for Southampton against Chelsea in midweek as they were once again caught out when playing out from the back.

I can see that being the case for them again in this game as Villa have players who can press high and force defenders into mistakes.

Ollie Watkins is one of those players as his work rate off the ball is incredible. I fancy him to follow up his goal against Brentford with another one in this game.

PREDICTION: 3-0

BRENTFORD V NEWCASTLE

Brentford shouldn't lose this one for one reason: They're playing at home and their home record is the best in the league.

Their home games have certainly been entertaining as they've seen the most goals. Goals should be expected in this one as well.

Newcastle were unfortunate not to come away with all three points against Liverpool in midweek, as they should've had a penalty when Isak was brought down by Jarrell Quansah.

Their performance was encouraging though as they unsettled the Liverpool defence and played on the front foot. Especially in the first half where they could have been leading by more than the one goal.

Both teams will definitely score here as they both have goals in them and play a front footed style of football. But because of Brentford's strong record at home, I think the points will be shared.

PREDICTION: 2-2

CRYSTAL PALACE V MAN CITY

Crystal Palace needed that win at Ipswich in midweek, and hopefully it will give them the confidence to kick start their season.

Their performances since the international break have looked encouraging and after getting that crucial win in midweek, Oliver Glasner will be hoping that side can now put together good performances with winning results.

Man City were back to their old selves against Nottingham Forest in midweek with Kevin De Bruyne being at the heart of everything.

They have of course missed Rodri, but De Bruyne has been a big miss too as they've lacked that creative player who can take control of games.

Palace will definitely look to exploit City's defensive weakness in this game and especially with Eberechi Eze on the pitch.

But with City having De Bruyne back in their side, I can see him put in another dazzling display and his team to take the points.

PREDICTION: 1-3

MAN UNITED V NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Man United have made changes in every game under Ruben Amorim and it's not at all surprising as he's still working out what his best team is.

I'm expecting Marcus Rashford to return to the starting line up after coming off the bench against Arsenal, and I was surprised that he didn't start after scoring in Amorim's first two games against Ipswich and Everton,

Nottingham Forest had chances against City in midweek, including that one from Chris Wood in the first half, which you'd think he he'd score given the form he's been in.

Forest don't a great record at Old Trafford with their last win there coming back in 1994, but I definitely think they can get something here as United can be got at defensively and are still adjusting to Amorim's style of play.

They have lost their last two on the road against big six opposition in Arsenal and City, but I fancy them to get the win here because of the quality they have in attack, which will cause Unted a number of problems.

PREDICTION: 1-2

SUNDAY:

FULHAM V ARSENAL

Fulham have played reasonably well when taking on big six opposition this season, pushing both City and United close before taking a point off Spurs last weekend.

Marco Silva's side took four points off Arsenal last season with three of them coming in this fixture.

Former Gunner Emile Smith Rowe will be facing his former club for the first time since he left them in the summer and he'll come into this game with a point to prove. He's been excellent for Fulham since he joined and he'll want to show Arsenal why they should've kept him.

Arsenal's set pieces were enough for them to beat Man United in midweek and their record from those situations is just incredible.

Fulham won't make it a comfortable for them just like they did against the other top sides they've faced this season.

But the Gunners should still be able to find a way through the brilliance of Martin Odegaard, who has made such a difference since his return.

PREDICTION: 1-2

IPSWICH V BOURNEMOUTH

Ipswich have arguably been the unluckiest team in the league this season in that they've been in games and have shown some encouraging signs, but haven't had the results that their performances have deserved.

I'm surprised that they haven't won at home this season as they were very good at home last season. I've even predicted them to get results at home with their game against Palace in midweek being one of them. But they again came up short and losing that game was a big blow for them.

Bournemouth should've won by more against Spurs in midweek with the amount chances they had, but they didn't come back to bite them in the end as Spurs didn't offer a lot at the other end.

That game was one of the very few I've predicted Bournemouth to win this season and I'm backing them to get another one here. Especially with Ipswich still without a win at home.

PREDICTION: 1-2

LEICESTER V BRIGHTON

Leicester got the Ruud Van Nistelrooy era off to a winning start against West Ham in midweek, which will no doubt give him and his team a lot of confidence moving forward.

Brighton have been an impressive team to watch this season, but they have had moments where they've been caught out defensively due to their high line.

Leicester also have problems defensively, but they do have players in their attack who are quick and can get in behind Brighton's high line.

The Seagulls are a resilient team though and because of that, I think the points will be shared.

PREDICTION: 2-2

TOTTENHAM V CHELSEA

Spurs were poor against Bournemouth last night and some of their fans are beginning to question Ange Postecoglou, who confronted one or two of them after the game.

If he loses this one and the game to Liverpool in a few weeks time, he could be a man under pressure.

Chelsea have a very good record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, winning all but one of their five games there.

It's hard to rule them out of the title race when you look at their league position and the form they're in. But I think we should wait till the latter stages of the season where the pressure increases along with the amount of games to be played.

They would certainly send out a statement if they win this one though and I think they will.

PREDICTION: 1-3

MONDAY:

WEST HAM V WOLVES

This is a massive game for both teams and managers, who are both under a lot of pressure. Whoever loses here could well be facing the sack.

The pressure increased further on West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui following his side's defeat to Leicester in midweek, where they were wasteful in front of goal.

Tim Sherwood said on Sky Sports Soccer Special that the Leicester defeat felt like the beginning of the end. He could well be right as this one could be the end of for him.

I thought Wolves were turning a corner this time last week after back to back wins over Southampton and Fulham. But two crushing defeats to Bournemouth and Everton have put them right back in trouble.

A section of their fans turned on Gary O'Neil during their defeat at Everton in midweek, with that section calling for his head.

Wolves do have some winnable games coming up, but whether he'll be in charge for them will depend on what happens in this game.

Both teams really need to win this game for obvious reasons. And if there is one team that I think will win, it's West Ham as they're at home.

PREDICTION: 3-1
