WEDNESDAY:
EVERTON V LIVERPOOL
This fixture was meant to be played back in December, but was postponed due to bad weather.
Everton created a lot of chances in the second half against Bournemouth in the FA Cup, but they weren't able to take them.
They did respond during that period after being second best for most of the first half. But the damage was already done during that stage of the game.
Liverpool also went out of the FA Cup at the weekend after a flat performance against Plymouth with an understrength side.
I can understand why Arne Slot made nine changes for that game as he wanted to give other players opportunities, and rest players ahead of this game. But he still could've named a stronger team and had some of his regulars on the bench.
Arne Slot deserves a lot of praise for the job he's done at Liverpool and rightly so, but if there is one thing I would criticize him for, it is for making too many changes in the odd game, like the one against Plymouth where he also named a weak subs bench.
Their big hitters will definitely return to the team for this one after being rested at the weekend and I can see that being an advantage for them.
That is because they'll all feel refreshed and ready to go after being rested over the weekend ahead of this game and their upcoming busy schedule.
Everton did win this fixture last season to pretty much end Liverpool's title hopes and boost their own hopes of survival.
But manager David Moyes has a poor record against Liverpool and especially in this fixture going back to his first spell in charge.
Because of this and Liverpool bringing their big hitters back into the team after resting them at the weekend, I'm backing the reds to come away victorious and increase the gap between them and Arsenal further.
PREDICTION: 1-2
