Are Bournemouth Champions League contenders?

Bournemouth have been one of the surprise packages of the season as they've put themselves in contention for European football next season.

Their 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday moved them to within a point of the Champions League spots and that has lead me to asking this question.

Are they Champions League contenders?

Their fans have the right to feel excited because of the prospect of them potentially being in Europe next season. Something they have never experienced before in their lifetimes.

Their current form will give them the confidence and belief that they can challenge for the top four because they'll want to keep it up for as long as they can, and when they look at where they are in the table, the players will be saying to themselves, let's go for it.

But whether they can challenge for the top four remains to be seen as they're not used to being in this position and pressure of being in a top four race could soon get to them, as it has done for a number of teams over the years.

They face Liverpool in their next game and that game will no doubt be a massive test for them.

Lewis-Skelly's red card should never have been given

Two red cards were handed out in the Wolves-Arsenal game on Saturday with Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly's being the most controversial of the two.

The young Arsenal full back was sent off for his tackle on Matt Doherty which was deemed to have been serious foul play. Lewis-Skelly did bring down Doherty, but his challenge wasn't dangerous enough to be a red card offence.

I didn't think it was a red card because Lewis-Skelly didn't go into the challenge at pace, his studs weren't showing, and there wasn't enough contact for the challenge to be a red card challenge.

His clip on Doherty was more of a yellow card card challenge than red because the challenge wasn't dangerous, and that sort of challenge is one that players usually get booked for.

Can Leicester kick on from Spurs win?

Leicester brought an end to their seven game losing run at the weekend with their win at Spurs, which took them out of the bottom three.

Can they kick on from it?

The result will definitely give them confidence as winning games of football usually does that, and especially against a big side like Spurs.

Their performance will also give them confidence as it was a much improved display compared to the recent ones they've put in.

They were much improved defensively as they got the ball out of their box at every opportunity, and were not as open as they have been recently.

They won their battles in midfield also as they dominated Spurs in that area of the pitch with their energy and tenacity.

I still think they'll go down as there are other teams who are better equipped than the to stay up. But if they can build on their win and performance against Spurs over the newt few weeks, I might change my mind and say that they've kicked on.
