Man City are not back yet

Man City finally brought an end to their slump on Sunday as they beat Leicester 2-0 to earn their first win in five games. Whilst the result was massive for them, it doesn't mean they're back.

Leicester created a number of good opportunities in the game and were also able to break through their midfield countless times. There was a big gap between the defence and the rest of the team and the Foxes ere able to exploit that space numerous times during the game.

Their midfield has been a big problem for them since Rodri has been out injured as they don't have a like for like replacement for him.

Mateo Kovacic played in the no.6 role against Leicester, but he rarely sat in front of the back four as that space was exploited by Leicester on a number of occasions. He's more of a no.8 than a no.6 and he doesn't have Rodri's instincts when it comes to sniffing out danger.

Their win over Leicester will give them confidence but for them to be truly back, they need to pick up more wins and convincing ones. With the January transfer window coming up, they'll have the opportunity to dip into the market and buy a defensive midfielder. If they can do that, they should return to being the team we know they are.

Could Southampton be worse than Derby?

Southampton's miserable season continued on Sunday as they were beaten 2-1 by Crystal Palace, leaving them at the foot of the table with just 6 points to their name halfway through the season.

This got me asking if they could be worse than the Derby side from the 2007-08 season.

The Derby team that season are the worst Premier League team on record as they picked up just 11 points for the entirety of that season. They had 7 points at the half way stage which is more than Southampton have right now with 6.

There is still a lot of time for the Saints to go above that 11 point mark as there are still a lot of games left to play. But they could still break the record as they haven't had enough quality to compete in the Premier League all season.

If they carry on losing games like they have done for most of the season, they could go on to break Derby's record and become the worst Premier League team in history.

Salah is the best player in the world right now

Mohamed Salah is having another terrific season for Liverpool this season as he's top of both the goals and assists charts with 17 and 13 respectively. With this kind kind of form he's surely the best player in the world right now.

On one in Europe's top five league has the numbers Salah is producing this season nor have their levels been as consistent as Salah's. He's delivered for the club week in week out and his numbers in all competitions are among the best in European Leagues. He registered more goal involvements than any one else in Europe's top five leagues, including Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe.

He may or may not be able to keep up this form for the rest of the season but if he keeps on producing the goods for the rest of the season, he'll surely be the favourite for the player of the season award.

Will Ipswich kick on from Chelsea win?

Ipswich finally got their first home win back in the top flight on Monday as they beat Chelsea 2-0 to move two points from safety.

Will they kick on from this result?

The win against Chelsea will definitely give them confidence because when you beat a top side like Chelsea, you'll believe that you can beat anyone.

Wins have been hard to come by for the Tractor Boys this season as they've struggled to get results over the line. They've put in some encouraging performances and have done well to stay in games, but they haven't been able to match the results with their performances.

If they can play like they did against Chelsea on a regular basis, they can definitely get more results and stay up. The performances are there, they just need to get results.
