At the end of each calendar year, I pick the best Premier League player from each club based on how well they've performed across the entire year. I've done it again this year and it's now time to show you who I have chosen.
ARSENAL: BUKAYO SAKA
Saka just keeps getting better and better year after year and in 2024 his game went onto another level. He was Arsenal's main man right throughout the year as he had his best season for goals and is already in double figures for assists this season.
ASTON VILLA: OLLIE WATKINS
He might not be having as good a season as he did last season, but Watkins has still been Villa's best player this year. His goals last season were crucial in Villa qualifying for the Champions League and has already scored a good amount this season, even though it's not as many as he had at this stage of last season.
BOURNEMOUTH: ANTOINE SEMENYO
Semenyo has without a doubt been Bournemouth's best player this year and especially this season. He ended last season strongly as Bournemouth finished 11th and this season, he has stepped up as their main man following the departure of Dominic Solanke.
BRENTFORD: BRYAN MBEUMO
Mbeumo has stepped up as Brentford's main man this year and especially since Ivan Toney left. The Bees missed him when he was out injured at the start of the year but when he's been fit, he's made a huge difference for them.
BRIGHTON: JAN PAUL VAN HECKE
Not many players really stood out for Brighton across the entire year, but if there was one who did it was Van Hecke. The Dutchman was solid right throughout 2024 by making many crucial interventions when his team needed him to both aerially and on the ground. He was arguably their most consistent player of the year.
CHELSEA: COLE PALMER
No doubt about it. Palmer has carried Chelsea right throughout the year with only Erling Haaland scoring more goals than him this calendar year. Without him Chelsea would not be where they are.
CRYSTAL PALACE: EBERECHI EZE
He might not be having his best season, but Eze has still been Palace's standout performer this year. He ended last season very strongly as Palace finished in the top half and has produced moments of quality this season when his team have needed them.
EVERTON: JORDAN PICKFORD
Pickford has once again been Everton's best player for another calendar year as he kept his team in games time and time again. If it wasn't for him, Everton would definitely be in the Championship.
FULHAM: ANTONEE ROBINSON
Robinson has been Fulham's most consistent player in 2024 in a year where he became one of he best full backs in the Premier League. He's been effective both defensively and offensively throughout the year and if he keeps this up heading into the new year, it won't surprise me if some of the big clubs come calling for him.
IPSWICH: LEIF DAVIS
2024 has been a year of two halves for Ipswich in terms of results. But if there is someone who stood out for them right throughout the year, it was Leif Davis. He was Ipswich's player of the season during their promotion campaign last season and has been one of their better performers this season. If he can keep up the performances he's been putting in, he could find himself in the England squad due to the lack of left backs.
LEICESTER: MADS HERMANSEN
Hermansen has been the Foxes' most consistent performer this year by making many crucial saves to keep his side in games. He did this throughout their promotion campaign last season and has done the same this season, where he's arguably been their best player so far.
LIVERPOOL: VIRGIL VAN DIJK
Van Dijk was back to his brilliant this year by being his calm and solid self right throughout the year. The reds are a much stronger team defensively when he plays and his performances this season have been key to the reds' title bid.
MAN CITY: ERLING HAALAND
Haaland was once again a goal scoring machine for City in 2024 as he bagged another golden boot and ended the year with more goals than any other player. City's form may have nosedived towards the end of the year, but he's still delivered the goals and is again in contention for another golden boot.
MAN UNITED: ANDRE ONANA
He has made the odd mistakes at times, but Onana was still United's most consistent performer throughout 2024. He's kept United in games many times throughout the year by making a number of crucial saves and without him, United would be a lot lower down the table.
NEWCASTLE: ANTHONY GORDON
Gordon was Newcastle's most consistent player this year in what was a challenging year for the Magpies. He bagged a lot of important contributions throughout the year and his form has made him a regular in the England squad. Alexander Isak has a great year also, but Gordon stepped up whilst the Swede was out injured.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST: CHRIS WOOD
Wood has been on fire all year round for Forest with only Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer scoring more than him this year. His goals towards the end of last season were key in Forest staying up and his goals so far this season have been key in Forest's push for European football.
SOUTHAMPTON: FLYNN DOWNES
2024 has been a year or two halves for Southampton but if there is one player who can hold their head high, it's Flynn Downes. His impressive performances on loan last season earned him a permanent transfer in the summer and since then, he's been the Saints' only real standout performer.
TOTTENHAM: MICKY VAN DE VEN
Van De Ven was Spurs' most consistent player in 2024 in what was a mixed year for Spurs. Spurs are a better team defensively when he's in it because of his pace and reading of the game. Without him they weren't the same team.
WEST HAM: JARROD BOWEN
Bowen was the Hammers one and only real standout in 2024 in what was a mixed year for West Ham. He scored a lot of important goals all year round for the Hammers and he's by far their best player so far this season.
WOLVES: MATHEUS CUNHA
Cunha was Wolves' main and only standout performer right throughout 2024 in what was a challenging year for Wolves. His goals last season were enough to keep Wolves out of a relegation battle and despite their struggles this season, he's still delivered with the goals.
